Uncover Stories in a Whale of a Tale

Dive deep into unforgettable journeys and lessons from my welding adventures.

From Offshore Adventures to Teaching Welding Excellence

Here are a few photos that I dug up from an old photo album the other day.

As you look at them, remember what Rod Stewart says about how "Every picture tells a story…

One day, when I was a little boy, I was sitting around the house watching TV.

Child watching vintage television in living room.

Hmmm. Only two channels were available at that time. I got bored, so...

Child photographing man outdoors with camera.

I went outside to take a picture of my dad.

Smiling man in vintage diving suit.

But then I got older and

graduated from diving school. They sent me offshore on a big ship

and threw me overboard...

Offshore drilling rig ship on ocean.

Sometimes it was easy...

Yellow buoy being lowered into the ocean.
Diver in cage suspended over water.

Sometimes not.

Sometimes it was cold and wet...

Underwater diver performing welding work.

And other times it was dry and dangerous.

Technician working on complex machinery and wires.

There were always lots of mechanical toys to play with.

Cartoon mouse with robotic arm, "Oceaneering" text.

One day, I met this other guy named JIM. He wore a big yellow suit.

Deep-sea diver exploring underwater wreckage.
Offshore oil rig under a cloudy sky.

Here's a picture of where he lived...

White hyperbaric chamber on wooden platform.

And here's a picture of where he spent a lot of his time...

Underwater diver welding metal structure.

Jim could weld in the wet water or...

Welder working with bright blue sparks.

...he could weld inside a big dry box.

Sitting at the bottom of the ocean.

One day, they took an X-ray of JIM.

Two offshore oil rigs in the ocean.

After that, they sent him back to the beach for rehab.

Control room with various dials and gauges.

He wasn't feeling so good, so they took him inside the clinic.

Sunset over bridge and ocean view.

And everyone lived happily ever after.

The end.

Enjoyed the Tale? Here’s a Thought for Young Divers

I hope you enjoyed this little story. Please come back again as I update this site from time to time. And, if you know of some young person who is thinking about pursuing a diving career, please have them call me, and I will try my best to talk them out of it.
